Right from the get-go, you’re hooked with a premise that evokes nostalgic memories of childhood. Our protagonist Sammy’s all pumped up about summer and his excitement skyrockets when he gets his hands on walkie-talkies.

As the story rolls on, Reed’s got an eye for detail that shines. Descriptions of the mystical realm are full of sensory-rich descriptions that’ll make you feel like you’re in the world with the characters. The magic system is very interesting without being overwhelming. Reed cleverly works on the idea of “cubes” as the building blocks of reality.

But at the heart of this story are the characters. Sam’s journey from curious kid to guardian-in-the-making is touching. He’s endearing, sweet, and endlessly inquisitive. It makes him a great protagonist to explore this world through. Also, I appreciate how the parents are an active part of this story, especially when the norm in most kid’s media is to have them out of the way for some reason or another.

Reed’s writing style feels like a cross between Stranger Things and Neil Gaiman’s writing. The whole time I was reading this, I couldn’t help but think that it would make an incredible TV show. This book digs deep into your thoughts and feelings, making it a story that lingers even after you’ve put it down. If you’re into fantasy, adventure, and stories that touch your heart, “Revernota” is the one you don’t want to miss.”

“This is, in my opinion, an extremely unique book in many ways, mainly in relation to the plot itself, but also from the progression as the read is split into 4 sections. I’m not a big reader of fantasy, but this really caught my attention thanks to its presentation- I was hooked from the first chapter from tiny details in the characters and scenes which really immersed me within Sam as a protagonist, and also helped to make the world around him come to life, too. I particularly love the use of the first-person perspective as it helps to immerse you so much more, but also because we get to learn and understand everything with Sam, and while it can get quite confusing at points, in my opinion, I’d say that it only adds to the charm of this book as you feel like Sam as his understanding of the world is flipped on its head. There are so many twists and turns, and your expectations will be subverted a decent amount, from my experience, which I always love. I will say that it can feel a little as if some scenes don’t have an overall effect on the narrative as a whole, and primarily act as a break from the rapidly progressing plot, and there were a few instances where I felt that these scenes took away from the pacing, but I wouldn’t say that I didn’t enjoy them, regardless. Overall, I highly recommend this read! 5/5!”

“I want to start off by saying that I totally agree that this book is like no other. The storyline follows 3 young kids, Sammy, Howie and Tommy, on this huge magical adventure. The plot of Revernota is a rich and magical storyline filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept me eagerly turning the pages. The author effortlessly blends elements of mystery, and action, creating a satisfying narrative. This story is full of epic battles, daring quests that challenged the characters and kept me emotionally invested throughout. Many plot twists which I totally did not see coming kept me reading with so many questions.The characters each have their own unique personalities and motivations. The supporting characters are equally well-crafted, adding depth and complexity to the overall narrative. Some definitely pull at my heart strings. The interactions between the characters are believable and add an extra layer of depth to the story. The characters are so well written you even feel for the villain in the story.... I truly did love reading this book and hope to see more from this author! ”
