Chicken House Press Locks in Middle Grade Fiction from J. Mitchel Reed for a 2022 release.

Chicken House Press is pleased to announce the acquisition of Revernota, a middle grade fiction adventure that is sure to inspire the imaginations of both children and adults alike.

J. Mitchel Reed (BA) has created a world that will encourage children to think about the magic that might exist in their own backyard as Revernota explores themes of friendship, love, family, bullying, and diversity—all within a familiar world that is full of extraordinary secrets.

Reed is an accomplished filmmaker, musician, and writer. His award-winning documentary, Passing, has been shown around the world and is used as an educational tool in many universities. His proven gift for weaving a story tapestry has resulted in an adventure unlike any other.

What started as a short story called “Double Bubble and Bullies” grew into the beautiful and mysterious world of Revernota. With the rhythm of a conductor, he captures what it was like to be a small town kid in the 90s, free from the distractions of social media in a world that goes far beyond a tiny screen.

Inspired by such classic films as Sandlot and Back to the Future, Reed presents relatable characters that come to life on the page, leaving the reader wanting more.

What (or who) are Revernotas? You’ll find out later this year as we aim for a summer 2022 release.
