“Funny, heady, and a new take on what we knew about The Wizard of Oz. Definitely worth your time.”
“Forget everything you thought you knew about the land of Oz because J.T. Maxwell flips it on its head and whacks it in the shins with a baseball bat in his hilarious, vulgar, and— yes — moving take on a classic. Once I picked up Red Brick Road, I couldn’t put it down. I was laughing too hard and fascinated to follow where J.T.’s story was taking me. What a debut novel!”
“A delightful adventure! Journey with Brendon as his life of routine gets pulled out from under him and he’s forced to consider his faults, blind spots, strengths he never knew, and relationships. J. T. Maxwell’s action-packed debut novel will surprise you at every turn in the road!”
“As long as I’ve known him, J. T. Maxwell has been thoughtful, funny, and a born storyteller. I’m thrilled that the world will get to meet him through his wild romp of a debut novel. Hopefully Red Brick Road is just the first of many such stories he will share with us.”
“Such a fun, funny, original take on The Wizard of Oz that had me laughing out loud! My favourite read this year.”
J. T. Maxwell has been a storyteller his whole life and has been sitting on the idea for his debut novel since he was very young. It took a global pandemic closing down the world to give him the oomph he needed to really dive in.
Together with his wife of twenty-three years, two sons, and a pair of cats, he makes his home an hour west of Boston where he has settled into a teaching career after fifteen years in finance and banking. He loves a good road trip, maintaining their Victorian-era home, beer-making, and he is constantly on the hunt for the world’s best root beer float.
CHP is so pleased to announce that J. T. Maxwell has been awarded first place in The Book Fest’s Fiction - Action & Adventure, Fiction - Fantasy - Action & Adventure category for his debut novel, Red Brick Road.
